A very nice large telescope with excellent presentation. The brass barrel is wrapped in an elaborate woven pattern typical of sailor's ropework. The telescope is set on an inlaid mahogany and brass stand. Engraved with the makers mark- A. Cairns, 12 Waterloo Rd., Liverpool, for Alexander Cairns, an instrument dealer working in Liverpool, England during the latter part of the 19th century.
